2017 Annual Meeting Leaves Legendary Impression
2017 Annual Meeting Leaves Legendary Impression
The theme of Archer Credit Union’s annual meeting could have been “Change”. In addition to a new location, new food selection, and welcoming both members and non-members, the Annual Meeting’s keynote speaker also suddenly changed. State icon Dr. Tom Osborne was the backup speaker for Head Husker Volleyball Coach John Cook, who had come down ill earlier in the day.
As with quarterbacks, the backup is a critical role and one that Osborne easily filled. He talked to the audience about leadership, from his time with the Husker football program to his passion with TeamMates, a teen mentoring program he started with his wife in 1991. With humor and humility, Osborne talked about building an atmosphere of positivity, love, respect and integrity. These principles are what guided Osborne, his team of coaches, and players in the past and is what guides him today as he works with the TeamMates program.
The evening also included highlights of Archer Credit Union’s previous fiscal year from President Dan Poppe and Board Chair Kristen Hermansen-Ryan. Archer Credit Union’s capital continues to grow, standing at a record high level of $64 million, which also grows the opportunities the credit union has to support its members. During the meeting, shareholders also re-elected Tracey Hefner, Kristen Hermansen-Ryan, and Kim Ross to the Board of Directors.
An annual meeting may not usually instill excitement, however, Archer Credit Union is quickly changing that perception. Head Husker Volleyball Coach John Cook is already scheduled for the 2018 Annual Meeting. As a partner in the community, Archer Credit Union was proud to bring members and non-members together for an amazing opportunity to hear from a true Nebraska legend, as well as to celebrate the cooperative spirit.
