Share Certificates

Share Certificates

A share certificate is an account issued by the credit union that is open for a specific amount of time and guaranteed a fixed rate, similar to a certificate of deposit (CD). Funds in the account cannot be taken out early without a penalty, but the rates are typically higher than traditional savings, checking, or money market accounts.

Why invest in a share certificate?

  • Guaranteed rate of return.
In a share certificate, you have control over the deposit amount, term, and rate. You can calculate your dividends and know exactly what to expect in return.

  • Investment options are endless.
Choose a term that fits your needs, whether its three months or five years.

  • Low upfront deposit.
You can open a share certificate account with as little as $500 and see better returns, while a money market typically requires more upfront with lower rates.

  • Member only features.
Archer Credit Union offers a variety of share certificate options, as well as IRA and student-specific accounts.

  • Peace of mind.
The National Credit Union Administration federally insures share certificates up to $250,000.
